Apple Swirl Bread

Ingredients

  • One batch of basic bread dough (see our basic bread dough recipe) made with 100% whole wheat flour OR 50% whole wheat and 50% white flour and 1 tsp salt risen once
  • 1 cup of apple butter
  • 1 spray of cooking spray

Directions

  • Punch down dough and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Gently pat out into a rectangle.
  • Spread approximately 1 cup of apple butter over ¾ of the patted-out dough leaving the uncovered part at one of the short ends.
  • Gently roll up the dough like a jelly roll towards the uncovered end. Seal the seams and sides.
  • Place into a lightly sprayed 5×9 loaf pan and make sure that the open end is placed in the bottom of the loaf pan. Allow to rise until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
