Ingredients

  • 1 large 28 ounce can tomato puree
  • 1 large 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ red onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons basil
  • 1 tablespoons dill
  • Pepper (to taste)

Directions

  • In a medium/large sauce pot, combine all ingredients over medium heat until boiling, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes.

Considerations

Add additional ingredients to taste: oregano, additional garlic powder, diced tomatoes canned with garlic, and additional basil

The sauce can be made in crock pot on low overnight

May be used to top packaged low fat whole wheat pizza crust, low fat whole wheat bagels and English muffins, as well as low fat whole wheat pitas
