The Foundation of the NLA offers several prominent honors and awards each year that recognize individuals and their research in the field of lipidology and rare and genetic disorders.
The Anne C. Goldberg, MD, MNLA Foundation Service Award
Established to honor its namesake and is awarded to an individual who supports the mission of the Foundation of the NLA: Improving the welfare of patients and families affected by cholesterol and triglyceride problems.
Criteria
Nominees for this award must support the mission of the Foundation of the National Lipid Association: Improving the welfare of patients and families affected by cholesterol and triglyceride problems.
Selection
The Foundation of the NLA Anne C. Goldberg, MD, MNLA Foundation Service Award is nominated and selected annually by a selection committee comprised of Foundation of the NLA leaders.
Award Detail
The recipient will be recognized with a plaque at the Honors & Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the NLA Scientific Sessions each year.
Nomination Period
Nominations are accepted annually beginning November 1 through December 31.
Foundation of the NLA Clinician/Educator Award
Recognizes a NLA member who demonstrates continued excellence in clinical care of patients with lipid disorders and/or excellence in education in the field of clinical lipidology.
Criteria
Nominees for this award shall be clinicians and/or educators who:
- Retain membership in the NLA for a minimum of 2 years (IF nominee is a clinician);
- Participate actively in NLA activities (IF nominee is a clinician);
- Make outstanding contributions to patient care and/or lipid-focused education
Selection
The Foundation of the NLA Clinician/Educator Award recipient is nominated and selected annually by a selection committee comprised of Foundation of the NLA leaders.
Award Detail
The recipient will be recognized with a plaque and monetary award of $1,000 at the Honors and Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the NLA’s annual Scientific Sessions. The awardees travel to the Honors and Awards Ceremony shall
be covered by the Foundation. Awardees not able to attend the award ceremony are still eligible to receive the “Clinician/Educator Award” designation but are ineligible to receive the monetary award.

Akira Endo Award
Created in honor of the scientist responsible for the discovery of statins, the drug group that has had the greatest demonstrable impact on arteriosclerosis of any pharmacological therapy in the history of medicine, Akira Endo, PhD. This award intends to recognize those responsible for the development of new therapies documented to prevent cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis.

Young Investigator Abstract Award
Annually recognizes five (5) young investigators (in training students, residents, and fellows or members in practice for < 5 years) conducting research in the field of lipidology.
